WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley conceded that ‘a lot of lessons are being learned at the moment’ after he saw his side rescue a late 2-2 draw at home against Hartley Wintney in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Warren Bentley’s first goal for the club sealed the point after Stephane Zubar had narrowed the scores when Michael Campbell and Jacques Kpohomouth had given the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Molesley said: “We are down but we are not out, for sure. We are having a bit of a sticky spell at the moment, one that we have got to navigate through sooner rather than later.

“We have got a bit of a break now so we can get back on the training field and iron out the creases and hopefully get back to something that resembles a bit more like our best. A lot of lessons are being learned.”

Despite Weymouth’s patchy form, they remain top of the table which has now become very congested with six teams all on 14 points, yet the Terras are ahead by virtue of a superior goal difference.

When asked if it was a big point against Hartley Wintney, Molesley said the point was a bonus.

He said: “I think considering the way it was, we were 2-0 down and out of it. To get a point is a bonus.

“We end the game on a high, we are still nowhere near our usual selves. We started the game really well and then the middle part of the game was not good enough.”

“We got frustrated, we did not move the ball well enough, we did not create enough opportunities but then the last 15 or 20 minutes we had a real go again and got back into the match.

However, Molesley praised Hartley Wintney for their performance for making it difficult for Weymouth.

Molesley said: “It is always going to be difficult now. You can see what teams are doing, they are making it difficult.

“Hartley Wintney were well organised and got in behind the ball and made it difficult for us.

“We struggled to break them down. Probably at the start of the game we should have put a couple of goals away, we were very unfortunate.”

Molesley stressed the need for his side to be more clinical and return to the free-scoring form that saw them score 10 goals in three days.

Molesley said: “We need to be a lot more clinical and create a lot more chances like we were a few games ago.

“We have come back in, we have got a point yet we were not at our best today and we have got to learn quickly and we have got to come back stronger.

“I know I said that after Banbury but it is a long race and we are still very much in it and I am sure we will stay in it and be right at the front of it.

“We have got a lot of work to do and we have got to remind ourselves of the things that serves us so well last year.”

On the Terras’ injury front Josh McQuoid is awaiting a further scan for his knee injury that he picked up on Tuesday.

Left-back Callum Buckley could return for the trip to Staines Town on Saturday, September 29.
