HARRY Baker said he is delighted to be back after his late strike handed all three points to Weymouth in their 1-0 win at home to Wimborne Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South on Saturday.

Baker admitted that it had been tough going out on loan but his introduction led to a change of fortunes for the Terras, who had been struggling to break down a well-drilled Wimborne back line.

Baker said: “I am pleased to be back, it was tough going out on loan.

“Weymouth have obviously been winning but I am back now and I am just pleased to score and for the team to win. It is a good day.”

Baker wasted no time in introducing himself to the Wimborne defence, with two chances in quick succession inside two minutes of coming onto the pitch.

His first effort was blocked away while the second curled wide of the far post yet in the 84th minute there would be no mistake as he fired in to rapturous applause from the home fans.

Baker said: “The game opened up when I came on, there seemed to be a lot more space on the pitch.

“Molesley said to me just keep running in behind so luckily Calvin (Brooks) played a great ball and I managed to tuck it away.

“I think I got a bit carried away with the celebrations like I always do but it was good.”

Baker enjoyed his time at Frome Town however, during which he scored three goals in four appearances.

Baker said: “They (Frome) were brilliant to me, they treated me really well.

“I went there and got some minutes and they gave me those minutes and we got a couple of wins but my loyalty is back here and now I am back here and trying to get back into the team and have a good season.”

The news of Baker’s recall came six days after the news that his loan deal had been extended and the striker admitted that it has been a bit of a whirlwind.

Baker said: “It was a bit of a whirlwind, the news Frome tweeted that the loan had been extended but then Molesley said I need you back here so it was a quick change around.

“I want to be here, this is where I want to be so I am delighted to be back.”

Weymouth manager Mark Molesley was pleased with how it has panned out for Baker.

Molesley said: “He has got out to get games so he has come in and done himself justice.

“I think if he was here for much longer sitting on the bench he might have gotten frustrated and lost his match sharpness.

“We have borne fruit from letting him out for a month and he has come back fresh and hungry and he has shown that when he came on and his goal has got us three valuable points.”
